Privacy Policy

This notice describes the data practices built into the current version of Harbourline. It is written for visitors, not as a substitute for legal advice. An operating publisher must keep it accurate when services, hosting or advertising practices change.

Who is responsible

Harbourline is the editorial publisher identified on this website. For privacy questions, access requests or concerns, contact [email protected] or write to 18 Montague Street, Editorial Office, Lunenburg, NS B0J 2C0. We use this contact information to receive and respond to privacy enquiries.

Information you choose to provide

If you email us, request a correction or otherwise contact the desk, we may receive the information included in your message, such as your name, email address and the substance of your enquiry. We use it only to respond, review the issue raised, protect the publication’s rights or meet an applicable legal obligation. We do not ask visitors to create accounts through this build, and we do not operate public comments or reader profiles.

Technical information and hosting logs

Like most websites, the hosting provider may process technical request information needed to deliver a page and protect the service, including an IP address, browser type, requested URL, date and time, referring URL and security information. This site build does not add a separate analytics library, session replay tool, social-media pixel, audience profiler or behavioural advertising tag. The operating publisher should document the actual hosting provider, its retention period and any support processors before launch.

Cookies and similar technologies

The current front-end does not intentionally set analytics, advertising, preference or profiling cookies. It may rely on strictly necessary technical features supplied by a browser or hosting environment. See the Cookie Policy for a detailed explanation and practical browser controls. If non-essential cookies or local storage are added, this notice and the consent controls must be updated before they are used.

Advertising and Google services

This version does not load Google Ads conversion tags, Google Analytics, Google AdSense, remarketing tags or Google advertising cookies. A visitor may arrive from an advertisement placed by an operating publisher, but an inbound click alone does not cause this static build to send visitor data to Google. If the publisher later adds any Google product that collects, receives or uses personal data, it must update this notice to identify the relevant party, describe the data and purpose, and provide an accessible explanation of that party’s privacy practices.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google’s EU User Consent Policy requires legally valid consent where required for cookies/local storage and for collection, sharing or use of personal data for personalised ads; it also requires clear revocation instructions and identification of the parties using the data. See Google’s EU User Consent Policy. If Google tags are introduced, the publisher should use a consent mechanism that prevents non-essential Google tags from loading until the visitor’s legally required choice is respected, records the choice where required and gives an equally accessible way to withdraw it. Google describes Consent Mode as a way for tags to receive consent signals; it is not itself a consent banner. See Google Ads Help: Consent Mode.

No sale or targeted sharing in this build

We do not sell personal information or disclose it for cross-context behavioural advertising in the current site build. We do not knowingly create advertising audiences from visitors to this site. If this changes, the publisher must describe the practice before it begins and provide any required opt-out or consent mechanism.

Retention, security and international processing

Editorial correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain a correction record, meet legal obligations or resolve a dispute. The actual retention period may depend on the hosting and email provider selected by the publisher. Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards should be used, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Service providers may process information in Canada or other jurisdictions; the live publisher should identify material providers in an updated notice.

Your choices and access rights

You may ask about personal information held in editorial correspondence, request correction of inaccurate information or withdraw a consent that you previously provided where consent is the legal basis for processing. We may need to verify identity before responding and may limit a response where permitted or required by law. Canadian organizations commonly use fair information principles such as accountability, identified purposes, consent, limiting collection, safeguards, openness and individual access. See the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada’s PIPEDA overview.

Changes and contact

We will revise this page when the site’s actual data practices change. The effective date at the top will change with a substantive revision. To contact us about privacy, email [email protected]. If you remain concerned after contacting the publisher, you may also consult the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
